The Latest Mazda CX-3 Update Has Got Your Safety Covered
Table of Contents
The Mazda CX-3, Australia's defending sales champion in the increasingly diverse small SUV category, has undergone a key mid-cycle update to tackle minor shortcomings present in previous models. Importantly, this upgrade has benefited from Mazda's active safety strategy, with the addition of improved safety systems across the board.
Updated crash-prevention systems and additional safety features
Described by Mazda as 'Smart City Brake Support', Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) is now included as standard across all variants. Using camera-based sensors to scan the roadway ahead, the AEB system recognises pedestrians and other vehicles and will warn you if you are at risk of a collision. This is effective up to speeds of 80km/h. Should you fail to react to the warning, the AEB system will apply the brakes automatically. This active crash-prevention system is designed to prevent you from crashing into cars that have unexpectedly slowed or stopped, or else reduce the severity of an impact. The rear bumper is also equipped with ultrasonic sensors that can also trigger automatic braking at low speeds should you be about to collide with something whilst reversing.
If you opt for the Max variant or above, you also get the addition of a reversing camera and rear-facing radar sensors to assist you with reversing, monitoring blind spots and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles and objects whilst reversing.
Taking safety one step further, the Mazda CX-3 sTouring also includes a Driver Attention Alert and Traffic sign recognition. Driver Attention Alert operates at highway speeds and tracks your driving to detect signs of fatigue, in which case it activates a warning that it is time for you to take a break. Traffic Sign Recognition recognises road speed signs and uses satellite navigation to track speed limits in order to warn you if you are exceeding the current speed limit.
The top of the range Akari grade brings all this as well as two more safety features. The Akari's Lane departure warning displays an alert should it predict that you are likely to unintentionally drift out of your laneway boundaries, whereas the Adaptive LED headlights ensures that your road is always appropriated illuminated.
Add to this six airbags and mandatory electronic stability control to help you control skids, the updated Mazda CX-3 now boasts an impressive list of safety features, demonstrating Mazda's commitment to your safety. With the revolutionary i-ACTIVSENSE safety technology included across Mazda's range, Mazda's reputation for innovation and impressive tech is unparalleled.
